Local information
Kilchrenan is a quiet village reached by a seven mile long minor road and is a secluded area of tranquillity and beauty. Taynuilt, on the main road to Oban, has a post office, grocer/delicatessen, petrol station and a railway station on the Glasgow – Oban train line. Oban (21 miles) is the nearest major town and is the ferry terminal to the Western Isles. The town has a full range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Loch Awe is a spectacular loch and the longest freshwater loch in Scotland, running from the village of Lochawe to Ford near the west coast to the south – a distance of 23 miles. Argyll offers the opportunity for a fantastic range of outdoor activities. There is superb hill walking, climbing and mountaineering in the area with skiing at Aonach Mhor and at Glen Coe.
